For bonefish, an 8-weight fly rod is a versatile choice. For permit, a 9-weight rod is commonly recommended, while a 10-weight or heavier setup may be useful for larger tarpon. Tropical floating fly lines, suitable leaders, and saltwater-resistant reels with reliable drags are important.

Popular patterns include Gotchas, Crazy Charlies, and shrimp flies for bonefish; crab and shrimp patterns such as Merkin-style crabs for permit; and baitfish patterns for tarpon and snook. Bring polarized sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen, and lightweight sun-protective clothing.

The $765 USD private day-trip charter includes round-trip hotel transportation, an experienced local guide, one fly or spin rod per angler, a box lunch, soft drinks, purified water, and a couple of beers. The price is per boat for up to two anglers. Fishing licenses, the Sian Ka'an park fee, and terminal tackle are not included.

Hotel pickup is generally scheduled between 6:00 and 6:15 AM, with an estimated hotel return between 6:00 and 6:30 PM. The fishing charter itself is approximately eight hours. Pickup and return times may vary depending on your hotel's location, transportation conditions, and the day's schedule.

If we cancel your trip for non-weather-related reasons, you receive a full refund. Customer cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance receive an 80% refund. If local ports close because of weather, you may reschedule or receive a 50% refund.
